Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Foundations

 

Course overview

This course introduces core artificial intelligence (AI) and data science concepts and tools, focusing on real-life scenarios with practical exposure to relevant software. Various topics such as preparing and working with data, data analysis, data visualisation, and problem solving with AI are covered.

The course is delivered through pre-recorded content and tasks which are released each week and can be worked through at your own pace, supported by some live lectures delivered via Microsoft Teams. All learning materials will be made available via the University's online learning platform, Blackboard.

This course will be delivered online. Please check the entry requirements tab before making your application to ensure you meet the entry criteria and have all the minimum equipment necessary to take part.

You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please email summer.university@tees.ac.uk.

Due to the content and delivery of this course, it is advised that applicants are aged 16 at the time of enrolment. All applicants under the age of 18 at the time of enrolment must provide a completed parental consent form. How you are assessed

100% in course assessment on a pass/fail basis.

Students will be required to submit a portfolio of work demonstrating an understanding of AI and data science knowledge and skills. Typically, the portfolio will contain both a research portion and a practical part. A full brief will be provided at the start of the course.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

As this is an online course it is necessary that you have access to a computer and that you are comfortable learning via an online platform. A strong and stable internet connection is required, and a webcam and microphone will allow you to participate in any interactive elements of the course.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
