We generate about 2.5 quintillion bytes of data daily, and it's accelerating. In the last two years alone we have generated 90% of the world's entire stored data. So what do we do with it? And how do we make sense of it all?
You look at using data visualisation techniques to help identify the story hidden within this vast sea of data, to help write that winning pitch or improve your company’s performances and profits. Stories often remain hidden in the numbers but once you bring them to life with charts you’ll be amazed at what suddenly appears.

Make appropriate selections from a wide range of charts for the purposes of analysing the data and telling a story.
Develop the skills to present the data using appropriate graphics, which helps the audience understand complex data sets and identify narrative(s).
Become familiar with a wide range of data visualisation tools.
You learn through a series of lectures and exercises – formative feedback is provided after each exercise. All materials are available through our virtual learning environment.
You are provided with data visualisations and reading materials to study outside of class time and will form the basis of a discussion within the following class.
This course is delivered online by webinar and using blackboard which is ideal for forums or contacts to others on this programme.
You are assessed by a presentation on a pass/fail basis. This involves the planning, design and development of an infographic for a specified data problem and a target audience. The infographic is delivered as part of a presentation which must include a justification for the graphics chosen and a reflection of the finished product.
Must work for a company of any size or sector in Durham, excluding Darlington, including Public Sector.
