Course overview
Designed to reflect the Professional Nurse Advocate standards set by NHS England, this module explores leadership and management in healthcare and examines the impact within organisations.
On successful completion you are ready to support practitioners through a process of restorative clinical supervision (RCS), personal action for quality improvement, and preparedness for professional revalidation through a process of critical reflection.
This module is accredited with the Royal College of Nursing and mapped against Professional Nurse Advocate Standards for Education and Training Programmes and Modules (2023).

What you study
Enhance your skills and expertise in the four functions of the A-EQUIP model:
1. a personal action for quality improvement
2. education and development (formative function)
3. clinical supervision (restorative)
4. monitoring, evaluation, and quality control (normative function).
You also develop your theoretical knowledge of the leadership theory that underpins the role and competencies of the professional advocate.
How you learn
You learn through online sessions. Teaching is delivered by PNAs and experts in the field of RCS, leadership and quality improvement.
How you are assessed
You submit a portfolio and reflection in week 11. Formative support and feedback is provided and scheduled throughout. Support for academic writing and critical analysis is also available. Reading weeks are incorporated to support your development in level 7 academic work.

Entry requirements
You must work in a patient-facing practice-related position, already hold a recent accredited level 6 qualification and have approval from your line manager.
