Important information
Stay in the Cornell halls on campus. Each room is single occupancy, with own bathroom, no room sharing is possible. Students must bring their own pillow, sleeping bag/duvet and bath towel. Bedding sheets are provided.
You must:
• be a current Year 12 student (in your first year of college or sixth form) and interested in applying to university
• be aged 16 - 18 years of age
• live outside of the Tees Valley area (25 miles away from Teesside University or more)
• Are currently studying a level 3 qualification
• are planning, and able, to progress to university in September 2027.
• Have an interest in studying your chosen subject stream at university and can demonstrate this in the personal statement section of the application.
• The residential is completely FREE of charge, with accommodation, activities, meals and snacks included.
• Travel reimbursements of up to £75 are available towards the cost of getting here. This will be reimbursed to you after the residential. You should submit your travel claim to us, and further details about the process will be provided during the residential.
• Students or parents/guardians are responsible for organising travel plans to and from the University.
• This residential is based at the Middlesbrough campus.
• 8 hours of interactive academic sessions are included within the programme.

• Unfortunately students can only attend one of the residentials delivered at Teesside University.
The residential is staffed by our Student Recruitment team, who are DBS-checked and trained in emergency first aid, alongside a team of trained student ambassadors. All students are required to adhere to our Code of Conduct at all times while on campus. Medical and dietary information will be collected once a place has been offered.
You’ll have the chance to take part in a range of fun social activities designed to help you break the ice. These include outdoor options like high ropes, canoeing, football, and nature walks. You’ll also visit a local restaurant and enjoy a social evening on campus, with activities such as a quiz, karaoke, music, a photo booth, and games. Don’t worry if this isn’t your thing, there are lots of spaces to relax, chat, play board games and chill.
- Have permission from a parent/guardian to attend the residential.
- Provide a parent/guardian name, mobile number and email on the application form.
- Accept and adhere to the regulations in the student code of conduct.
- Notify their college or sixth form when they secure a place.
- Complete the Microsoft forms that are a necessary requirement to attend the residential.
