Mandatory consent training for students

Consent Matters uses a wide range of interactive activities to provide up-to-date education on consent, communication skills and relationships and looking out for others. Whilst the training is mandatory, it is also what prospective employers are increasingly looking for in potential employees, along with knowledge on equality and diversity and health & safety.

With this course and the continued support through the Yes to Respect campaign, we're looking for students to promote positive cultural change within our university community.

To access the training modules, you will need your Teesside University email address and password.

Access Blackboard

1. Select 'Sign In' and enter your university email address and password. Once you have signed in, you will see your name on the left-hand side of the screen.
2. Select 'Organisations', and you will see the module Consent Matters
   
3. Once the module opens you can find out more information about the modules if you select 'What is Consent Matters'
4. You then have two options:
   • Consent Matters: Select this to start the online training. You must read the section 'How it works: Read this before starting the training'. This provides important information and instructions for completion of the training. Once you have completed all three modules you must select 'End Course' to register that you have completed the training.
     
   • Opting out of the training: We understand that, due to the content of the modules, some students may not wish to take the course for cultural reasons or due to their personal experiences. If this is the case, you can opt out of the training by selecting this section and completing the form that opens.
