Jonathan secured job before graduation

21 July 2019

Jonathan Blair overcame uncertainty about progressing to further education to gain a First Class degree and secure employment before graduating.

The Teesside University BSc (Hons) Information Technology graduate is already working for ventilation system company Vent-Axia, based in Sussex. Jonathan, 22, from Norton, said: 'I studied information technology at college and my lecturer recommended that I continue my studies at Teesside University, but I was initially hesitant as I wasn’t sure how confident I felt about working towards a degree.'

Despite his uncertainty, Jonathan was encouraged after visiting the University and felt his confidence continually grow while working towards the degree. He now credits the University with helping to boost his self-belief, saying: 'My confidence has really grown while studying at Teesside. For anyone thinking of going to university, Teesside should be their number one choice. 'I feel it is number one because of the level of support, the structure of the courses, the brilliant facilities and the layout of the campus with everything close by.'

His new role with Vent-Axia involves working in providing business technical support, helping the company to analyse feedback to help with future products. Jonathan worked as a student ambassador during the second two years of his degree at Teesside, which meant he was involved in representing the University. He said: 'I have really enjoyed my time at Teesside University and have made lifelong friends, along with business connections which have progressed all the way through my studies and beyond.'
