Local digital social enterprise receives Point of Light Award from PM Rishi Sunak

A Tees Valley social enterprise which is being supported in its growth by the DigitalCity initiative has received a prestigious award from the Prime Minister.

Nite Light CIC have been awarded with the 1984th Point of Light as a result of the inspiring work the community interest company is doing to support over 50,000 vulnerable people across the region.

Nite Light CIC aims to increase the health and wellbeing of the most vulnerable members of the local community through a digital pay forward scheme.

This method of cashless aid ensures that people in the Tees Valley area are well supported and have the basic essentials to live such as food, drinks, toiletries and clothes.

Director of Nite Light CIC, Nadia Gibany is currently participating in the SCALE programme offered by DigitalCity, a Teesside University-led initiative, funded through the European Regional Development Fund, which equips organisations with the knowledge, skills and tools they need to thrive in the ever-expanding digital world of today.

The SCALE programme helps Tees Valley business leaders develop the digital knowledge to scale and increase the profitability of their business.

Director at Nite Light CIC, Nadia Gibany said: “We have a great team of staff and volunteers who are working extremely hard to help people every day. This award was never expected and it shows us how much our organisation has grown and that our efforts are being recognised. To say we are proud is an understatement.

It is fantastic to learn how Nadia has partnered with local businesses, enabling her whole community to benefit from the generosity of others.

“We hope this recognition can provide us with the much-needed support to expand in the future to offer communities help for gas and electric costs as well as shower, washing machine and dryer facilities.”
