Junior Masandi

BA (Hons) Marketing and Advertising

Junior enjoyed his undergraduate course so much that he's now secured a place on our MSc International Management

My time at Teesside helped to develop my presentation skills, which was really beneficial when I had to present as part of my interview.

Why Teesside University?

I studied a foundation degree in business management at the University and as part of this the tutors helped me to understand my strengths and weaknesses – I knew then that I wanted to stay here and develop my learning.

Why marketing?

I have a passion for creative media and understanding buyer behaviour so the marketing and advertising degree was a perfect fit.

Best thing about your course?

I got to learn new digital strategies and trends which really accelerated my learning.

I’ve secured a place on the MSc International Management (Marketing Management), starting in September – I’m looking forward to the Marketing Analytics in Practice module as it’s close to the tasks I do in my day-to-day job.

Tell us about the University facilities

The facilities are great – everything is first class, from the sports facilities to the social events. The Library is so vibrant and the Students’ Union is full of activities – I loved being part of the University.

Do you have a good social life?

My social life was amazing. I developed friendships through class, playing football and attending different social events.

Middlesbrough is a really cost effective town. There are plenty of student deals and everything is a short walk from the campus.

What did you get involved in outside of your studies?

I developed and delivered marketing workshops to a local charity, which was really good. They were on topics including social media best practice and how to manage social media as a business.

Were you a member of any clubs/societies?

I played for the University football team which I loved. I also built up great relationships with other sports clubs and the nightlife and social events were always fun.

Did your course help you get your current job?

Yes definitely. I did some freelance work after I graduated and I’ve recently been employed full-time with the ecommerce specialists Visualsoft, working as a Client Relationship Manager.

My time at Teesside helped to develop my presentation skills, which was really beneficial when I had to present as part of my interview.

Would you recommend Teesside University?

Without a doubt. There is such a community spirit in Teesside as a campus and a town. Everyone helps each other and it’s amazing.
