Neil Campbell

BA (Hons) English

Neil's time at Teesside has led to a career as a writer.

I'd recommend it as a friendly place - both the university and town, with excellent, ambitious lecturers. It gave me a love of literature.

What brought you to study at Teesside University?

I studied English Literature and English Language A Levels at college and wanted to continue this further. I came to an open day at the University and found the staff very friendly.

The course was great, and the lecturers were brilliant - June McQuade, Ben Knights and Chris Thurgar-Dawson. I used the library a lot for my course and also the careers service.

Where did you live when you were studying at Teesside University?

University accommodation. It was ideal, as it was so close to the campus.

What was your social life like when you were studying at Teesside University?

I played on the cricket team and spent a lot of time socialising in The Dickens, a well known bar near the University.

Would you recommend Teesside?

I'd recommend it as a friendly place - both the university and town, with excellent, ambitious lecturers. It gave me a love of literature.
I went on to do an MA at a much bigger university and the teaching standards weren't as high as Teesside.
