How did university help you with your career?

I really honed my communication skills at university. Presentations, helping out at open days and being a student ambassador and class representative gave me the experience and confidence to talk in front of people. Also, the structure of my degree projects was something I constantly refer to in my career.

Why did you choose Teesside?

I was told the course would really suit me, so I applied. I enjoyed product design the most at A-Level. Teesside showed a personal approach to students and teaching with their lecturers’ open door policy, free-access workshops and a great working environment and facilities.

What did you like about Teesside?

I found the most enjoyment in meeting and spending time with new friends in the design studio, working long hours but also making memories. The careers service helped me improve my CV and made me aware of what employers are looking for.

Tell us about your career since graduation?

I secured my first job two months before graduation at Treske furniture as a CAD Technician. I used 3D software and programmed for 3-Axis and 5-Axis CNC machines. I moved onto my current role as a project design engineer at Bisca, where I design and project manage luxury staircases. Both my roles have been very exciting and have taught me, and still teach me, a lot. I am very happy at my current role as it somewhere where I can develop.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Definitely. Great course, great support, great people, great University!
