Innovate Durham is here to help take your business forward. We have funding available to help ambitious small and medium-sized business in County Durham innovate and grow.

How can we help?

We want to help you do new things in your business. If you have an idea for a new product or service or want to improve processes in your business, Innovate Durham can provide extensive business and innovation support, which may include funding to recruit a graduate.

With the support of a dedicated business innovation manager we will work with you to understand your business and what you want to achieve. A detailed innovation review will be carried out to identify potential projects and used to develop an action plan of support.

Graduate Placements

Innovate Durham provides funding for graduate internships and placements that range from 6-12 months depending on your project. We will work closely with you to understand your specific needs and help you recruit a talented graduate to ensure the right fit for your business. The graduate can have access to support from an industry expert or an academic from Teesside University for up to 2 days per month.

Innovation advice and support

Whether you want to improve or develop a product, embed a new process or service within your organisation, we can help with impartial innovation advice and support.

We can help you identify the innovation funding that is relevant to your business and can provide specialist support and advice when writing applications to ensure the best chance of success.

Our specialist support includes:

  • Identification of research and development funding opportunities
  • Managing and streamlining the application process
  • Advice and guidance on submission criteria to ensure all requirements are met
  • Strategic advice and input at every project milestone
  • Opportunity to identify partnerships to strengthen and enhance applications
  • Management of partnerships within collaborative bids
  • Review of applications ensuring logical flow and understanding for assessors

Running until July 2019, we can have funding to support businesses in County Durham employing fewer than 250 staff and with an annual turnover of no greater than €50m per annum.

The project has received up to £693,654 of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
