Animex audience asked to vote

01 February 2008

Views from the public are what will count at a series of free cinema screenings in Middlesbrough during an international festival of animation and computer games.

The ninth annual Animex International Festival, hosted by the University of Teesside from 4 to 8 February, attracts talented animators and computer games experts from across the world.

The free screenings can be seen during Animex Screen 2008, which is held from 4 to 6 February.

Animex Screen 2008 features the British Animation Awards Public Choice programme, with audience members invited to select their favourite films from a fantastic range of animation made over the past two years.

Over the three days, audiences can view a selection of animated shorts, music videos and commercials at special free screenings at Cineworld in Middlesbrough. Animex Screen 2008 provides the only opportunity in the North East to vote in the national awards.

A complete list of the candidates hoping to receive votes from audience members is available online on the British Animation Awards or Animex websites.

The three screenings, which are free, will be at Cineworld in Middlesbrough, at 6.00pm, from 4 to 6 February. You can see a different programme of animation in each screening.

Chris Wyatt, Senior Lecturer in Animation in the School of Computing, said: ‘This is a rare opportunity to see this fantastic range of animation made over the past two years on the big screen and have your chance to influence the outcome of a prestigious award. Don't miss it.’
