Hundreds of delegates to attend business events at Teesside University

26 June 2013

Teesside University is set to welcome hundreds of businesses to its campus next month when it hosts the Tees Valley Business Summit.

The event, on Thursday 4 July at the University’s campus in Middlesbrough, follows last year’s hugely successful inaugural summit which was attended by the Employment Minister Chris Grayling and more than 300 businesses.

This year’s summit aims to build on that success and offer businesses even more opportunities to develop and grow their companies.

The Tees Valley Business Summit is the first of two major business events being held at Teesside University this year.

On September 18, the University is playing host to Doing Business @ Tees, an event which is expected to attract more than 200 delegates.

Laura Woods, the University’s Director of Academic Enterprise, said: 'Teesside University has a strong track record of working with business and encouraging innovation and we are delighted to be hosting two such significant business gatherings.

'They offer an excellent forum for companies to network, to make valuable new contacts and to discover new business opportunities.'

As well as keynote speakers, including BBC business journalist Steph McGovern, practical seminars and workshops, the Tees Valley Business Summit will offer one-to-one advice sessions and hundreds of networking opportunities with businesses from across the Tees Valley and beyond.

There will also be interactive sessions with industry experts on a diverse range of topics including:

• Business growth. • Sales and marketing. • Finance and investment. • International trade. • Writing bids and winning contracts. • HR, training and employee relations. • Sustainability and the low carbon economy.

Doing Business @ Tees on 18 September will feature Meet the Buyer, with dozens of buyers available for one-to-one chats with potential suppliers.

More than 30 organisations will be on hand to offer help and advice on business issues.

Short, focused masterclasses on improving business performance will also be on offer.
