Across Teesside University we are committed to ensuring a safe environment to provide the very best student and learning experience – offering a blend of on-campus and online learning.

Changes to all course delivery

Our flexible, hybrid teaching model means you can expect to spend some time learning online and some time learning on campus, in small group classes. The system is flexible enough to cope with any changes announced to social-distancing measures.

You can complete most online learning flexibly - so even if you are unable to join us on campus at the start of the academic year, you will still be able to engage in your learning.

On-campus learning prioritises components of your course that can’t be delivered online, enabling access to specialist facilities and resources that are a key part of your course.

Here are the key differences in course delivery from previous years:

  • Lectures will be delivered online with interactive activities with your tutors.
  • Full-time students can expect a minimum of 4 hours a week, on average across the semester (2 hours a week for part-time students) on campus.
  • Under the hybrid delivery model, you will actively engage in learning specifically designed for your course – delivered through Blackboard or other virtual learning environments.
  • You will be supported through regular online communications with your tutors.

Subject-specific changes to course delivery

The following information relates to all undergraduate courses (excluding TUOLE, degree apprenticeships and online learning courses) from September 2020. Please click on your individual subject area for any specific changes.

Please note that any course delivery changes outlined for a specified course also apply to the associated ‘with Foundation Year’ (Year 0 entry) or ‘with Industry’ routes, unless stipulated elsewhere.
