What made you decide to study on a higher education course?

I had worked for two years before joining the University. This opened my eyes to my future employment, as I didn’t want to stay at the same level. I knew that a degree would help boost my future career.

Why Teesside?

My friend emailed me about this course, it was a new course that he thought I might be interested in. After looking through the course details I decided to apply. I have always been interested in sports and business, this course combined the two so it was ideal.

What is the best thing about your course?

My lecturer is very knowledgeable and gives the class a lot of great opportunities to embark on. The opportunities available open doors and increase your personal network of contacts for future employment.
My favourite module was Introduction to Sports Management. During this module I did my first actual research and referencing - not as hard as people say and I enjoyed the challenge.

What do you think about the campus and the services?

The services offered at the University are phenomenal. There is academic support while you’re still at university, such as referencing, academic writing and report writing, and a wide range of support for future careers.
The student lifestyle is fantastic in the area. There is plenty of nightlife and student discount in nearly every shop.

Have you done a work placement or been involved in any volunteering programmes?

I have done plenty of volunteering at numerous organisations such as, the Champions League Final in Cardiff, Middlesbrough Football Club, Whitby Town Football Club. All these opportunities have been fantastic and greatly increased my employability.
I have also been assigned the role of mentor for a Level 4 student in order to guide him through his first year and be there when he needs help.

Would you recommend Teesside?

Definitely, my course is great and we have a tight-knit group. I’ve developed academically and made new friends at the same time. The course leader is also very insightful and knowledgeable.
