Why Teesside?

When I first visited Teesside the environment and more importantly the interaction with the lecturers was great and I knew it would suit me. Growing up in Middlesbrough also allowed me to hear the opinions of others who have attended Teesside and I always heard positive things.

Best thing about your course?

I liked the variety the course offered, no two days were ever the same and there is also a lot of opportunities to experiment and try out new things. I was lucky to be able to travel to China for a design competition and the chance to have a three-month placement. Teesside helped me achieve both and they have really helped me progress my career.

How are the campus and services?

As a student with dyslexia, I need a level of support from the University. The support provided by Teesside is some of the best I have ever had. It is never too much trouble for the staff in student services to help you with work or anything else that you are struggling with. The campus is a lovely, I always feel safe and everyone is super friendly.

Did you complete any work experience at Teesside?

I did a three-month summer placement with a local design consultancy and it was an invaluable and an eye-opening opportunity. The company I worked with now offers regular summer placements for Teesside University students and even hires graduates providing lots of opportunities for graduates to show their skills and passion.

How have your experiences at Teesside helped you?

My time at Teesside University really helped open the door for me after I graduated. The skills I learned are invaluable and are important for any job. Skills such as communicating effectively, balancing multiple pieces of work and how to be confident in yourself are all things Teesside taught me.

Would you recommend Teesside?

I would recommend Teesside University as it is a great place where you develop and hone your skills. I also suggest studying the BA (Hons) Product Design course if you love to draw and design as it is such a varied course and will really help develop your skills.
