I chose Teesside University because of its welcoming and friendly atmosphere and the impressive campus. The staff made me feel comfortable and I could just tell that I would have a positive experience at Teesside. The student accommodation is close to campus and everything I needed was just a short walk away.
I really enjoyed the wide exposure of studying international management. I had a chance to explore different areas related to international management – finance and business operations from lecturers with a good understanding of different industries. The lecturers really went out of their way to support me throughout the course. This gave me a better idea of what sort of career I wanted to pursue once I’d finished my degree.
I used the careers service as much as I could. The University’s mentoring scheme helped a lot. I had a mentor for a year who helped with career advice, CV writing, mock interviews and just general support.
Eventually, I had the opportunity to gain voluntary and paid work experience that helped me build on my employability skills. I even managed to gain some experience as a consultant on a summer internship abroad.
My social life was great. I spent plenty of time at the Students’ Union and the library which were probably my favourite places to be during my degree. I was part of several clubs and societies including Teesside Entrepreneurs and Archery. I had a great time, met many interesting people and all this ultimately inspired me to co-found my own society.
Being involved in different societies and extra-curricular leadership courses really helped me to develop my leadership and networking skills.
