Fashion students from Marmara University, Turkey exhibit alongside Teesside students in design degree show

Teesside University invited students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University to participate in the 2018 design degree show.

Teesside University invited students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University to participate in the 2018 design degree show.

Teesside University and Marmara University, based in Istanbul, Turkey, came together in an Erasmus agreement following a series of collaborative projects between design staff in 2017.

To celebrate, students from Teesside University fashion courses were invited to exhibit their work alongside students from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University at the 7th Student Triennial 2017 in Istanbul.

This year, five students from Marmara University fashion course have sent fashion pieces from their collections to be exhibited alongside Teesside fashion students and to be shown as part of the first Teesside University Fashion Show 2018.

The University is really big, with facilities for everything you need for your work. There are possibilities to experiment and develop your ideas and the technology available is excellent.

Dilek Kayicki

One of the students, Dilek Kayicki, visited the campus to meet staff, fashion students, and to experience the studios and facilities. When asked what she has enjoyed most about visiting Teesside University, Dilek said:

“The University is really big, with facilities for everything you need for your work. There are possibilities to experiment and develop your ideas and the technology available is excellent.”

Teesside University and Marmara University will continue to collaborate on research, shared projects, and an exhibition in October 2018.
