Trainers in Clinical Psychology Annual Conference

17 August 2007

The School attended the annual conference for the National Group of Trainers in Clinical Psychology. Course Director Andrew Cuthbertson facilitated a workshop on Leadership Training for Trainers.

The workshop reflected Teesside’s responsive reaction to the training implications emerging from the New Ways of Working for Applied Psychologists agenda, profiling our approach to ensuring that local trainees develop leadership skills appropriate for their roles within the modernised NHS. It looked at models and theories of effective leadership and how they can be applied to clinical psychology training.

Tim Prescott, clinical tutor, contributed to a presentation about the organisational changes in healthcare. The presentation discussed the political, organisational and professional perspectives that are currently reshaping the environment in which healthcare professionals train and work. These perspectives were examined against a transactional analysis theoretical underpinning.

The University of Teesside has offered to host the 2009 National Group of Trainers in Clinical Psychology conference.
