June research round-up

Iain Spears (with Hibbs, Thompson, French and Wrigley) has published an article Training core stability and core strength to optimise performance in sports medicine.

And (with van Schaik, Blake, Pernet and Fencott) an article Virtual augmented immersive exercise gaming for older adults in cyber psychology and behaviour.

A third article (with Harris) is forthcoming, The effect of rugby shoulder padding on peak impact force attenuation in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

Mike McGuinness is giving a paper in June at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, at the Sport Literature Association conference - Roy of the Rovers – the ‘new man’ of British post-war boys’ comics.

And a second paper at the British Society for Sport History at the University of Stirling in July - Dressed in red, white and blue, he’s World Cup Willie...some reflections on representation and England from the 1966 World Cup to the present.

Andrea Abbas’ joint project which is funded by the ESRC now has an ESRC website which is well worth a look at www.pedagogicequality.ac.uk
