Psychology research that’s staring you in the face

14 May 2010

Teesside University’s senior lecturer in Psychology, Dr Kazuyo Nakabayashi, is leading some cutting edge research into face recognition.

Working with colleagues in Japan, Dr Nakabayashi will examine how people recognise faces of those from their own race, as well as those from other races, by tracking and measuring eye movements.

She is excited about seeing the results: ‘We are far from understanding what makes recognition of other race faces difficult. The outcomes of this project will have important implications for theories of face recognition, as well as the practical applications, such as eyewitness testimony.’

Join Teesside’s success as University of the Year (Times Higher Education awards) and be inspired in the field of psychology, where 94% of our students are happy with their course (National Student Survey 2009), and all of our courses are BPS accredited.
