Animex brings the business of animation to Newcastle

28 January 2011

Animex, the University’s international festival of animation and computer games, is reaching out to the business community in a special one day event in Newcastle.

Animex Pro, aimed at new or established animation or games companies, will take place at the Live Theatre, Newcastle, on Wednesday 9 February, from 9.00am to 5.00pm. The aim of Animex Pro is to provide an opportunity to be inspired and motivated by some of the most successful and creative speakers from the world of animation and computer games.

Among the speakers is Max Howard, of Exodus Film Group, who is returning to Animex Pro this year due to popular demand and positive feedback from participants in last year’s event. He will host a workshop on producing independent animated films.

Max said: 'This wonderful event is representative of the ever expanding reach of animation into all forms of entertainment, from games to feature films and everything in between.

'Animex Pro provides a terrific platform for myself and others to articulate our work in the animation world and I am particularly grateful to have this opportunity to share my experiences with fellow industry professionals.'

Bringing people together Chris Williams, Animex Director, added: 'Animex Pro is a new facet to the festival and one that is being supported by some of the leading lights of the animation and games industries.

'We really hope that the North East's creative industries sector sees the benefit of this event and would like to think that by bringing people together in this way we can help to encourage the development of the industry as a whole in the region.'
