Engineering consultancy firm Haden Freeman is looking to expand its graduate workforce and has launched an initiative to support students as they enter the world of work.

The partnership started with a visit to the University’s School of Science & Engineering, where Haden directors led a guest session exploring what it’s like to be a graduate in the industry.

Second year Chemical Engineering degree students also received the first in a series of one-on-one sessions from Technical Director, Stuart Dow and Process Engineering Manager, Ian Gilmore.

Stuart Dow said: 'After years of interviewing graduates at Haden Freeman, I know just how competitive the process can be.

'We’re looking for the best candidates who have what it takes. Graduates therefore need to be prepared to give the best impression they possibly can.

'It’s been fantastic to have a direct impact on these students’ development – they are future of the industry after all.'

Samantha Gooneratne, Teesside University Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for Chemical Engineering, said: 'It’s extremely important for the students to have contact with professionals already working in the industry as it really helps to bring what they’re learning to life. It also helps them to understand what is expected when it comes to moving from university into their careers.'
