Chloe Lavelle, 19, says students shouldn’t panic about their A-Level results as Clearing provides a wealth of opportunities – whether they did better or worse than expected.

This year Teesside University has made Clearing simple and if you are still seeking a University place, you can call the University’s Clearing hotline on 0800 952 0226 or visit the Clearing website.

Chloe, originally from Cardiff, called the Clearing hotline to explore opportunities after receiving her A-Level results. She then embarked upon a 600 mile round trip to visit Teesside University and enrolled on the BSc (Hons) Forensic Science (Extended).

'To begin with, Clearing seemed quite stressful, but as soon as I spoke to Teesside University I felt at ease,' explained Chloe.

'They were extremely helpful and got to know me and what I was interested in, rather than just the results on the paper. The conversation I had reassured me and made me confident that I would be attending University that year.'

Chloe was then invited to visit the University and was given a tour of the campus and the facilities. She has excelled in her first year and is looking forward to completing the rest of her degree.

Clearing provides so many fresh opportunities to explore alternative routes and courses

'Clearing was 100% the right choice for me,' added Chloe.

'Whether your results are slightly better or slightly worse than expected, there is no need to panic as Clearing provides so many fresh opportunities to explore alternative routes and courses.

'Personally, for me, the one thing I wasn’t prepared to sacrifice was the course as I’ve always wanted to study Forensic Science. I have loved every minute of being at Teesside University and can’t wait to start my second year.'

Michael Lavery, Executive Director (External Relations), said: 'We understand that this is a stressful time for students which is why we make the whole process as simple as possible. Clearing is all about providing opportunities and we work hard to treat each student individually and find them a solution they are happy with.

'If you have received your results and are still unsure about your university place, then don’t hesitate to call our Clearing hotline and we will be happy to help.'
