Helen Butters is one of the four women who make up Yorkshire Rows, the inspirational group who also hold a world record for rowing across the Atlantic.

Describing themselves as being far from professional sports women, they say they are four ordinary working mums who 'dared to dream'.

The women took up rowing five years ago. Each week after taking their children to school they would venture out onto the river Ouse and learn to row, rounded off with tea and cakes.

In January 2013 they decided to take on the herculean task of entering the world's toughest rowing race 3000 nautical miles from the Canaries to Antigua.

It took three years to plan and prepare. The story they tell is incredible, inspiring, motivating, humbling and funny.

Helen will share their story on Monday 30 October from 5.30pm in the Centuria Building lecture theatre H0.01. Refreshments will be provided from 5.00pm in the Centuria building ground floor foyer.

The talk can be heard as part of the University’s annual Festival of Wellbeing, with a range of events taking place from Monday 30 October to Friday 1 December. The theme of this year's festival is learning, resilience and mental wellbeing.

Events range from yoga, tai chi, meditation, improving your sleep, looking at how food can affect your mood and the joy of learning.
