She graduates from Teesside University this week with an LLB (Hons) Law.

It continues an impressive year for Jade, 22, who claimed gold for England in the para-triathlon and bronze in the women’s T54 marathon at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

She said: 'The whole experience at the Commonwealth Games was incredible and it was really exciting for me to be representing, not only England, but Teesside as well.

'Winning those medals is something I will never forget and certainly a career highlight for me so far.'

During her studies, Jade has been a member of the University’s elite athlete scheme, which provides access to state-of-the-art equipment and expertise to athletes at international level or with exceptional international potential. It provides a comprehensive support package tailored to meet the needs of the individual, with bespoke academic and sports science support.

I have had such an incredible time at Teesside University and do not think there would be another university which would have given me so much support.

Jade says that being on the scheme has certainly helped her to succeed, both academically and competitively.

'It has been hard combining studying and competing, but I have received so much support from the University.

'I always said I wanted to do well in both areas and did not want one to compromise the other, so to be graduating after a successful Commonwealth Games is a fantastic feeling.'

Jade added: 'I have had such an incredible time at Teesside University and do not think there would be another university which would have given me so much support. I will certainly be leaving with a lot of fond memories.'
