Academic invited to speak at conference in Turkey

15 April 2019

Dr Emma Cunningham, Senior Lecturer in Criminology in the University's School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Law, has been invited by the Social Science & Humanities Research Association (SSHRA) to deliver a keynote address and preside over the International Conference on Social Science & Humanities in Istanbul, Turkey, in August.

Dr Cunningham recently hosted two International Women’s Day community events involving My Sister’s Place and the young carers group from The Junction, Redcar. She is currently involved in research into women’s perceptions of IWD which will help to inform community events she is involved in planning for 2020 with the IWD working group.

She is also involved in the Mary on the Green campaign to get a statue of Mary Wollstonecraft in London and will be involved in fundraising. Dr Cunningham is pictured at the IWD Community event held in the Student’s Union Hub in March.
