Jay Cocksedge is the winner of a £500 prize draw after completing the National Student Survey (NSS) about his student experience.

The third year BA (Hons) Computer Games Art student said: 'I was really surprised to win. When I saw the initial email I thought it was a good opportunity to complete the survey.'

The NSS provides students with an opportunity to voice their opinions about their course and student experience. The feedback is then used to help shape services for future students and highlights both best practice and areas for improvement.

Jay, 21, who is originally from Wakefield added: ‘It is important for students to be able to complete surveys like the NSS and have their say about the University.'

Jay, who is due to complete his degree this summer, said he chose to study at Teesside due to the course facilities and being impressed after visiting on an open day.

'It has been good to see the University grow, with new buildings going up while I’ve been here. The Library has been a great resource and the lecturers really know what they are taking about.'

Teesside University is committed to providing the best possible student and learning experience and uses the information from the NSS to make changes to improve all aspects of the student journey.

Professor Mark Simpson, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), said: ‘I am pleased that a high proportion of our students took part in the NSS this year. The University is in an exciting period of change with the development of the campus masterplan and it is vitally important that our students feel that they get the most out of their time here.’
