There’ll also be a creative writing competition to win a £20 book voucher, on the theme of a fictional queer role model you wish you’d had when you were growing up.

TALK CANCELLED: to be rearranged. A talk by Dr Joan Heggie, Creating her own queer space: Miss Jack May, Lady Farmer in England and Canada Dr Heggie will delve into the life and career of Jack as a farmer who owned land in Canada and lived with a woman companion during the early part of the twentieth century. It reveals what happened to her as she returned to England from Canada and discusses how she successfully created her own queer space despite the international scrutiny she faced, at a time when femininity and [hetero]sexuality was culturally and politically dominant.

Mini-Pride, Wednesday 22 February, 10.00am - 2.00pm, Students’ Union (first floor) Join in our celebration of all things LGBTQ+, with information and advice for LGBTQ+ colleague students, and allies from services within SLS to local charities and organisations within the local community. There will be lots of giveaways and information to help support the education, welfare and offer of safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ and ally community. It promises to be a fun and light way of being informed on what’s available within the University, and the surrounding areas.
