What made you decide to study on a higher education course?

To improve my career prospects and acquire skills and expertise in my specialist area. I heard about Teesside University through the World Student Advisors website.

I thoroughly studied each university’s research activities and chose Teesside as there is a huge focus on providing high quality learning and research.

Why did you choose to study that particular subject?

I have an interest in the manufacturing sector. My PhD programme focuses on new product development as a strategic measure to enhance and improve the performance of small businesses.

What is the best thing about your course?

The invaluable guidance and support from both teaching and non-teaching staff.

My mentor has been so supportive to me – he keeps making my dream brighter on a daily basis. My favourite module is Research Supervision, it’s been invaluable, especially the constructive criticism from the supervisory team and review committee.

What do you think about the campus and the services offered?

The innovative teaching and social learning space is amazing. I’ve also used the careers service, which significantly helped in securing financial support for my project. I am very passionate about meeting new people and building networks. Teesside is a friendly environment and the cost of living is low compared to where I did my master’s degree programme.

Are you a member of any clubs or societies or involved in any volunteering programmes?

Definitely as a motivating, learning and supportive environment – it has given me the opportunity to stimulate my intellect and broaden my experience. Working on several live projects by linking theory into practice has exposed me to a range of skills in addition to my academic pursuit.

Teesside University is the best contributing channel to my personal development that I have ever achieved, I could not imagine my life any different.

If you are not yet a graduate, do you think this course will help you achieve your ambitions?

This course has fully provided me with an insight to identify how I can develop support in both educational and business settings. My future plan is to work in the higher education sector, but I also hope to venture into social enterprises – using entrepreneurial-based projects to empower individuals to turn opportunities into sustainable progress.
