Fast-track from study into the workplace

13 June 2019

Teesside University is launching its first ever accelerated degrees, which allow students to graduate in two years and fast-track their entry into the workplace.

The accelerated degree courses provide an opportunity to embrace the full student experience while being able to graduate after two years of study.

Accelerated two-year degrees have the same amount of course content as traditional three-year degree courses, but with shorter breaks from studying, enabling students to complete their course faster and begin their careers sooner. These courses respond directly to industry needs.

Teesside University is currently offering two-year accelerated degree courses in BSc (Hons) Computing (Digital Consultancy) and BA (Hons) Team Entrepreneurship, with a range of additional courses currently in development.

Professor Mark Simpson, the University’s Pro Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), said: 'Teesside University is continuously evolving to meet the needs of the modern student. We offer a wide range of innovative and flexible learning opportunities designed to fit around our students’ commitments and priorities.

'The accelerated degree courses are another example of how Teesside University is fully committed to meeting the needs of industry and putting students at the heart of everything we do.'

The introduction of accelerated degree courses builds on the University’s Future Facing Learning initiative which is transforming learning and teaching with cutting edge digital technology to enhance the way students learn across the University’s whole portfolio of academic courses.

All new eligible full-time undergraduate students receive an Apple iPad and a specially selected toolkit of apps to enable them to excel at university and beyond. In addition, the University has partnered with Microsoft to digitally upskill and empower staff and further enhance the teaching and learning experience for students.

Professor Simpson added: 'Future Facing Learning is an extremely ambitious initiative, designed to ensure that all of our students are future-ready and are equipped with the skills and attributes which employers are looking for.'
