About | Teesside University Book Group Virtual Poetry Evening

Join poet and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing, Bob Beagrie, for The Book group’s poetry-based session. Bob will give a brief introduction to poetry and his experience of it as a literary form that is too often misrepresented. Explore some of the reasons why many people feel a lack of connection to it, or are often intimidated by it.

There will be the chance to engage in writing some poetry of your own through a guided exercise, and some discussion of the process. The session will culminate in a short reading of Bob’s own poetry from his latest book ‘Civil Insolencies’ (Smokestack Books) and from his forthcoming collection ‘When We Wake We Think We’re Whalers from Eden’ (Stairwell Books).

We hope to see you there and can’t wait to welcome you to a wonderful evening of poetry.
