Combined degree in Social Work and Mental Health Nursing available

A new BSc (Hons) degree in Social Work/Mental Health Nursing will be available from the University of Teesside this autumn. The course is aimed at students who want to work with people who are experiencing mental health problems, and wish to apply skills from both social work and nursing to meet their needs. Graduates will have a vital role to play in developing collaborative working between Social Services and the Health Service.

Graduates will gain two professional awards on successful completion of the degree, namely Registered Mental Nurse and qualified Social Worker.

During the course students will undertake mental health and social care placements within both community and in-patient settings. Students of this new course are eligible for an NHS means-tested bursary. Tuition fee contributions will be paid for by the NHS.
