This event is being held at Teesside University, Middlesbrough.

This day of seminars and workshops will explore how the massively successful game Minecraft can be used to support learning and teaching in the biological sciences in Higher Education.

The event is supported by the Heads of University Biosciences (a Special Interest Group of the Royal Society of Biology:

Keynote speaker (Joel Mills, Minecraft Mentor & Deputy Director of Learning Enhancement, Hull University)

12 pm

Selection of case studies from Teesside University

2–3.30 pm
Minecraft toy box: a 1.5-hour session in a computer room where participants will be able to use the software, trial the virtual field trip exercise and explore the Minecraft world.

Post-play discussion (with tea / coffee). How can participants use Minecraft in their own practice?

4 pm

This day is designed for those with an interest in the use of technology and games in university learning and teaching. No experience of Minecraft is necessary.

Food and drinks are provided, as is access to Minecraft. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know when you register your place.
