The free event, ‘Building sustainable skills for a better tomorrow’, is part of a roadshow being held by the University and leading financial advisor Grant Thornton UK LLP to launch their Sustainability Leadership Partnership.
The two organisations have come together to develop a Sustainability Business Specialist apprenticeship designed for employees in sustainability roles, entrepreneurs interested in growing sustainable businesses and leaders who want to build their understanding of sustainability.
The event, held from 11.00am to 2.00pm on Monday 3 June, will take place at Teesside University’s Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC), a national centre of excellence for net zero technologies which has been credited with embedding a legacy of green innovation in the region.
Attendees will have the opportunity to obtain an overview of the new apprenticeship programme and hear from a keynote speaker, who will be discussing the evolving role of sustainability in business practice.
Apprentices on the new programme will qualify with a Sustainability Business Specialist MSc from Teesside University International Business School and, through a combination of in-person and online learning, learn about sustainability principles and theories, leading sustainable organisations and how to apply sustainability across global operations, service innovation and finance.
This will be a fantastic opportunity to network and learn more about the different ways in which environmental, social and governance (ESG) can be implemented effectively within an organisation.
Jo Burgess, Director of Professional Apprenticeships at Teesside University, said: “With sustainability playing an increasingly vital role across all industries, this event will be of interest to organisations in multiple different sectors.
“Our new apprenticeship has been developed in conjunction with Grant Thornton to ensure that is rooted within real-world business experience and delivers the skills which are vital to ensure that sustainable leaders can make an impact within their workplace.
“This will be a fantastic opportunity to network and learn more about the different ways in which environmental, social and governance (ESG) can be implemented effectively within an organisation.”
We invite businesses to join forces with the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre on this transformative journey. Together, we will accelerate innovation, shape sustainable practices, and forge a path toward net zero emissions. Let's create a legacy that resonates locally and inspires globally.
