Course structure
Year 1 core modules
You study basic economic theories of the markets and competition as well as elements of the wider business environment including government policy and the macroeconomy. And you apply these theories to analyse the markets using segmentation, targeting and positioning frameworks.
Personal and Professional Development
Here you understand the importance that organisations and society place on individual values and behaviours by helping you reflect on your skills and attributes.
You study some of the general principles of business management, particularly around structure, culture, leadership, organisational behaviour, the business environment and the operational impact of these areas. You explore the concept of strategic management with a focus on organisational resource and competency. And you look at the impact of organisational behaviour on overall business effectiveness - you consider the role of each individual in an organisation, and explore their motivation, perception and personal impact.
This is an interactive learning experience where you develop an enterprising mindset, as well as identifying the skills and attributes that you already have. You are encouraged to start thinking about your personal career aspirations, addressing potential gaps in your knowledge, skills and experience. You learn to think in an enterprising way, identifying new approaches to adapt and enhance your individual style. You work independently and as part of a group by taking part in personal challenges and group projects. Understand the importance of networking – you hear from external practitioners with the chance for a Q&A.

How you learn
You learn in group sessions that focus on practical skills supported by the academic concepts and theories. Which means you can discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in smaller groups.
Your learning experiences are strengthened by sessions delivered by industry practitioners who share their valuable industry insights with you.
Subject (or modules) are delivered in six-week blocks. You study one at a time, supported by online learning materials.
How you are assessed
You are assessed through assignments, group work, presentations and live practical projects.

Entry requirements
Entry requirements
A typical offer is 64 tariff points from at least two A levels (or equivalent). Find out how many points your qualifications are worth using the UCAS tariff calculator.
We welcome applications from mature students without conventional entry requirements. We take into account any alternative qualifications or other experience you may have.
International applicants
This course is not available for international applicants as we are not accepting applications from applicants requiring a student visa.
