Course overview
You use a combination of industry-standard 3D software for modelling and industry-standard texturing software for creating textures. You learn about art and engine pipelines, which are used by practising game artists.
Summer university
Start date: Starts Monday 2 June, Mondays & Wednesdays for 4 weeks, 6.00pm-9.00pm
You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please email summer.university@tees.ac.uk.
Age restriction
Due to the content and delivery of our Summer University courses, it is advised that applicants are aged 16+ at the time of enrolment. All applicants under the age of 18 at the time of enrolment must provide a completed parental consent form and those under 16 years of age are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. What you study
- 3D asset and material integration into a games engine
- technical and artistic criteria and limitations for a 3D games artist
- model, unwrap, texture and manipulate assets within a games engine
- create a small-scale environment using industry standard games art practices.
How you are assessed
By an in-course assessment, and you are required to model and texture several assets to create a small-scale scene within a game engine.

Ensure your laptop or PC can run these programmes:
Any version of Autodesk Maya or Blender
Unreal Engine 4
Substance Painter.
International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
