Assessment Regulations
The University Academic Board approves the Assessment Regulations for Taught and Research awards. The Assessment Regulations undergo a regular editorial process to ensure they are consistent and accurate.
Following review of the Foundation Degree, Undergraduate Degree, Integrated Masters Degree and Taught Postgraduate (Masters) Degree Assessment Regulations, a small number of changes to the Assessment Regulations were made and these were introduced from 2022/23 on an incremental basis for new students joining the University on these awards from the 2022/23 Academic Year.
Following on from this review, the University undertook a review of the regulations for Higher National (HNC/HND) and Professional Doctorate awards and this led to a small number of changes which were introduced for all students on those awards from the 2023/24 Academic Year.
Undergraduate Awards
The regulations for Foundation Degrees, Undergraduate Degrees and Integrated Masters Degrees, which are effective from September 2024 for students studying at Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6 who commenced their studies at levels 3 or 4 on or after 26 September 2022, commenced Level 5 studies from September 2023 or commenced Level 6 studies from September 2024 are detailed below. Higher National Awards
The regulations for all students enrolled on Higher National Awards, effective from September 2024 are detailed below:Note: Students who interrupt their course will re-join their course on the Assessment Regulations in place at that time for the cohort they join. Students who are restudying a module or award undertake that restudy under the Assessment Regulations in place at that time for that level for that academic year.

Variance to Assessment Regulations
Some courses and/or modules have approved Variance from specific aspects of the assessment regulations, normally due to Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements.If you are an enrolled student and are unsure as to which set of regulations apply to you, or whether your course/module has any Variance, please contact the relevant Course Leader for further information.
