Managing your password

You can use MyLogin (apps.tees.ac.uk/mylogin) to:

  • change your password
  • register your security details
  • create a PIN.

What is my user number?

Your user number is a letter followed by a series of numbers, for example T1234567.

What if I don't know my user number?

Your user number is on the front of your Teesside University smart card (TUSC).

How do I get my password?

You set up your password when you complete the pre-registration process, or you can contact the IT service desk.

I have my password. How do I change it?

You can change your password online at apps.tees.ac.uk/mylogin.

I've forgotten my password. How do I recover it?

There are a few ways to recover your password. If you've registered your security details, you can click on 'recover your password. at apps.tees.ac.uk/recovery. You are asked for your user number and sent a password reset link. If you haven't registered your security details, you should contact the IT service desk for help.

How complex should my password be?

The most common problem you might have when changing your password is that the new one might not be valid. The University has several rules to follow when changing your password.

It must:

  • be at least 14 characters
  • not include all or part of your first name, last name or user number
  • include:
    • at least one uppercase letter (A-Z)
    • at least one lowercase letter (a-z)
    • at least one number (0-9)
  • also include an exclamation mark (!), dollar sign ($) or percent (%)
  • not include any of the following characters:
    • spaces
    • sterling pound (£)
    • ampersand (&)
    • less than (<)
    • greater than (>)
    • colon (:)
    • vertical bar (|)
  • be different to your previous passwords - if you try to use a password you've used before, it will be rejected.

If you're still having problems changing your password, please contact the IT service desk.

I’ve changed my password. Is there anything else I should do?

Yes. We strongly recommend that you register your security details. This allows you to recover your password if you ever forget it and, if you’re a student, register yourself for out-of-hours IT support. You can register your security details by clicking on the ‘Manage password and security details’ link at apps.tees.ac.uk/mylogin.
