Teesside University's National Horizons Centre partnered with Hexis Lab to advance cutting-edge skincare and skin health research. This collaboration leverages the NHC’s state-of-the-art facilities and academic expertise to support Hexis Lab’s mission of creating sustainable, personalised skincare solutions.
Consumers are increasingly demanding skincare products that are safe, effective, and tailored to individual skin types and conditions. Traditional product development and testing methods are often time-consuming and resource-intensive. Hexis Lab needed an innovative approach to streamline research, development, and validation for dermatological, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical applications.
Hexis Lab utilises its proprietary Pro X® platform, combining deep learning algorithms with a vast database of natural compounds to simulate and validate product efficacy through computational modelling. To further this work, Hexis Lab established a research base at the NHC, accessing cutting-edge laboratory equipment and collaborating with Teesside University researchers. The partnership focuses on molecular dermatology, combining human skin cell technologies with artificial intelligence to validate novel ingredients and formulations for skin repair, rejuvenation, and protection. This approach enables Hexis Lab to create highly personalised and sustainable skincare products efficiently and cost-effectively.
The collaboration has positioned Hexis Lab as a leader in sustainable and personalised skincare innovation. By utilising the NHC’s facilities and expertise: Hexis Lab has accelerated its research and development process, rapidly identifying and validating novel bio-based ingredients. The partnership supports the development of tailored products for diverse skin types, ethnicities, and environmental conditions. The integration of artificial intelligence and human skin cell technologies has created a scalable model for producing effective and environmentally friendly skincare solutions. The partnership not only enhances Hexis Lab’s ability to deliver innovative products but also reinforces the NHC’s role as a key driver of bioscience growth in the Tees Valley and beyond.
