National Horizons Centre is a proud to be a delivery partner of the RESILIENCE Centre of Excellence for UK Medicines Manufacturing Skills. The centre brings together an academic consortium of UK universities led by the University of Birmingham alongside UCL, Teesside University, and Heriot-Watt University as well as Britest LTD.

Together, the consortium will deliver training and outreach materials and programmes that address current and future skills demands for the medicines manufacturing community, including industry, NHS and education providers. Through this approach, we will ensure talent is attracted and retained in this important and growing sector.

Medicines manufacturing is rapidly evolving, bringing an increased need for skills in digital, computational/automation and data analysis and our range of training approaches will reflect this to include:

  • co-created, co-branded core materials for training and outreach, readily available and scalable to education and training providers across the UK
  • digital training utilising cutting-edge virtual reality/mixed reality that accelerates training paths, reduces environmental impacts and improves consistency
  • accelerator programmes for T-level, undergraduate placements, graduates, and CPD trainees supporting career awareness and ensuring new hires are 'workplace-ready'
  • outreach and grass-roots talent management for pre-16, 16-18 and UG/PG taught courses.
