What do you most enjoy about teaching at Teesside University London?

Our modules here at Teesside University London are delivered on a six-week basis which works well for students and the teaching staff. It allows students to focus on one skill set at a time and it allows the lecturers to support the students as well as stretch and challenge them.

How do your students benefit from your experience?

A lot of what we teach is hands-on and requires practice. With my experience, I’m able to guide students so they can build on the advice I give, rather than having to start from scratch each time.

Tell us about your career to date

I studied BA (Hons) Computer Games Design and graduated in 2019. After my undergraduate course I did a PgCert in Education and started my teaching career, teaching games design at a college. During this time, I discovered a passion for games art, and I started to develop my skills in this area.

How has your industry experience enhanced your teaching?

I can advise students on upskilling for relevant practice, producing portfolios and creating suitable workflows.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

Seeing students excel and pursue their passion.

Why should students consider studying this course?

The unique delivery model is perfect for creative courses. When learning a skill, it is important that students get the time to learn, practice and apply whilst still retaining a balance when it comes to studying, working and life.

What is the best piece of advice you have for your students?

Push yourself out of your comfort zone. The industry is competitive and everchanging, so be flexible and adaptive in your practice and workflows.
