What do you most enjoy about teaching at Teesside University London?
The opportunity to work with students from all over the world. The diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences make each classroom discussion unique and enriching. I also appreciate the University's strong focus on practical, career-focused education, allowing me to help students understand theory and see how it applies in real-world business environments.
How do your students benefit from your experience?
Through the practical insights and real-world applications I bring into the classroom. Having worked in various educational and business sectors, I can share real examples of challenges and opportunities which helps identify the gap between theory and practice. I incorporate case studies, games, business simulations, quizzes, and hands-on projects to give students a deeper understanding of how business concepts are applied in real-life scenarios.
My professional network also provides students with access to industry links, guest speakers, and potential career opportunities, enhancing their learning and prospects. I also welcome guest speakers in my class to share their business and career ideas.
Tell us about your career to date
I have an MBA with a focus on marketing, and a DBA, in addition to a decade of experience running a small business, I have driven its growth and embraced the challenge of establishing a thriving digital presence.
I have dedicated five years to inspiring and educating undergraduate and postgraduate students at various institutions across the UK, including Elizabeth School of London, Arden University, Greenwich International School, University of West London, and Teesside University London.
What industry links do you have?
I have developed strong industry links through my work and collaborations across various sectors, particularly in business and education. These relationships allow me to bring guest speakers, organise networking opportunities, and offer insights into current trends and best practices for my students. My industry connections also help students gain exposure to internships, work placements, and potential career pathways, which is especially valuable for connecting the gap between academic study and professional experience.
How has your industry experience enhanced your teaching?
It helps to bring real-life examples in classroom settings,design assessments and projects that focus on real business tasks, preparing students for the challenges they will face in their future careers. This practical approach not only deepens their understanding but also equips them with the skills and mindset needed for success in the business world.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
My highlight is my student success in different educational and business institutions. These experiences not only demonstrated the power of education in shaping careers, but also reinforced my passion for teaching and supporting students in reaching their full potential.
