Personal development coach

As a Teesside University London student, you’re allocated a personal development coach.

Your coach provides pastoral and academic advice, guidance and professional support throughout your studies. As your key contact, they help you with your transition into university - and your progression.

Your personal development coach:

  • supports you as you begin your journey here at Teesside University London and as you progress through your studies
  • supports you to define key objectives and specific career goals
  • helps you to capitalise on opportunities and experiences that can help you in your professional development
  • discusses work-related experiences to help you with your career and professional planning
  • helps you understand the feedback you receive, providing general academic support so you can achieve your potential
  • provides pastoral advice and signposts you to more specialised support if you need it.

If you’re a new student, you normally have your first contact with your personal development coach during induction week – or your first week of joining the University. If you’re a returning student, you normally have your first meeting during the first three weeks.

Your personal development coach draws on information about you to support you through your studies. For example, they discuss your StREAM engagement data and other information including your records of progress. Your coach will be as flexible as possible in arranging to meet with you. All interactions are captured in StREAM so you can keep track of discussions and any actions from your meetings with them.

You can schedule a meeting with your personal development coach through our online booking system at a time to suit you

StREAM

StREAM is like a fitness app for your education to help you monitor your learning. It generates an individual engagement rating and provides you with a better understanding of how you’re doing and what you can do to improve, if anything. It provides a personal picture of how you engage with learning opportunities and is a focus for conversations with your personal development coach.
