Succeeding in your studies

As a Teesside University London student, you have a responsibility to actively engage with your studies.

Your participation is important, and we monitor and record your progression through mechanisms including My Engagement and StREAM. This is made available to the University and external agencies where appropriate.

If you persistently fail to engage with your studies, the University reserves the right to withdraw you and report your withdrawal to external authorities such as the Student Loans Company and UKVI.

International students are expected to engage with all classes and maintain contact with the University as a condition of your visa.

Engagement monitoring policy and procedure

Self-directed study

Although the University provides support, the duty to learn is your responsibility. Each module has several hours of learning time. Some of these hours you spend in tutor-led sessions, the remaining time should be on independent learning, strengthening your understanding of the subject.

Reporting absence

If you are ill or unable to attend University for classes, you must report this to the Teesside University London office before your session by using UNIverse.

If you have a continuing illness and you are concerned it is affecting your studies, we can help you by offering extensions and other forms of support.
