Accident reporting

All accidents resulting in an injury must be reported to the health and safety team and your supervisor. If you suffer an accident, please report this immediately. There are accident report forms available from the reception desk.

Once you have submitted this information, you may be contacted by the health and safety team for further details.

Fire safety

Warnings of fire emergencies are transmitted by an audible alarm. If you discover or are notified of a fire, follow the steps below:

  • leave by the nearest exit, following the green Fire Exit signage
  • do not stop to collect personal belongings
  • sound the fire alarm on route (if not already activated)
  • close all doors on the way
  • call the fire brigade on 999
  • move away from the building towards the North Canalside Fire Assembly Point and await further instruction
  • do not re-enter the building until instructed
  • do not attempt to fight the fire unless your escape is blocked
  • never use a lift in a fire evacuation.

The fire alarm system is tested on a weekly basis on a Friday between 9.00am-9.30am

Personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEP)

All Teesside University London students must be able to leave buildings safely in the event of a fire or other emergency. We understand that many people with disabilities may require assistance. Therefore, we request that you consider your emergency evacuation arrangements in relation to your own needs. If necessary, we can draw up a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) with you.

General security

The security control room is staffed 24/7 and can be contacted on 020 3861 6860. Any suspicious behaviour or activities, incidences of tailgating or thefts should be reported at the earliest opportunity.
