Here East Scholarship

About this scholarship

You may be eligible for £2,700 if you study with us that covers your full tuition fees and a top-up maintenance loan.

Here East is a campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park specially designed to encourage innovation and collaboration between the businesses, universities and start-ups that work and study here.

The Here East scholarship supports local people through higher education courses at the universities based on the innovation campus. You get your full tuition fees, a top-up to your maintenance loan (worth £2,700 a year), support with relevant work placements within the Here East business community, mentoring and company insight opportunities.

Here East will award a Scholarship to no more than three scholarship winners per academic year, and the award for each recipient includes:

• A one-off payment of the tuition fee loan obtained by the relevant Scholarship Winner from Student Finance England at the end of the relevant scholar’s degree.
• Maintenance payments of £2,700 for each academic year of the scholar's course of study. (This will be given in instalments of £900 per semester for your academic year) Here East will make this payment directly to the scholar at the start of each academic year.

Eligibility

To apply for the scholarship, you must

• be a first-year, full-time home student starting at Teesside University London in 2025-26 studying one of these courses:
  • BSc (Hons) Computer Science and Informatics
  • BA (Hons) Games Art and Design
  • BSc (Hons) Games Design and Development
  • BSc (Hons) Information and Cyber Security
• live in Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets or Waltham Forest
• attended secondary school in Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest
• be eligible for and applying to Student Finance England for funding.

You are expected to become a scholarship ambassador and support with future scholarship applicants and recipients.

This scholarship opportunity is not open to:

• Employees or the immediate family of employees of Here East.
• Applicants who have previously completed any undergraduate study (at any UK university or elsewhere).

How to apply
