Kotryna secures Here East Scholarship
A career in games beckons for Teesside University London student Kotryna Zeciute, who is one of three recipients of the 2025 Here East Scholarship.

Kotryna, who is studying BSc Games Art and Design, is the second Teesside University London student to receive a Here East Scholarship in two years.
Kotryna, who aims to embark on a career as a senior games artist with a leading company, said: “I come from a low-income household. I applied for the Here East Scholarship in the hope of easing the financial pressure that comes alongside university. It will help me to grow skills through networking and work experience, whilst also fully focusing on my studies.”
Kotryna added: “Taking up art as a profession would be an exciting and rewarding journey, being able to use my skills to create games people can enjoy and immerse themselves in. I believe that university will provide the perfect environment to further my skills and deepen my understanding of the process behind game art.”
The Here East Scholarship Programme, launched in 2020, provides full undergraduate tuition and supporting loan supplements to eligible students from local boroughs; Waltham Forest, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, who are studying at higher education institutions based at the Here East campus.
The programme is particularly aimed at students who face financial barriers in attending university.
