What do you most enjoy about teaching at Teesside University London?

One of the things I enjoy the most about teaching at Teesside University London is the diversity of students and the unique perspectives they bring to the classroom. The collaborative learning environment, where students from various backgrounds contribute to discussions and projects, enriches the experience for everyone involved. It’s fulfilling to see how they apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios and grow into confident, innovative professionals.

How do your students benefit from your experience?

With over three years of teaching experience across multiple universities, including Canterbury Christ Church University, Bath Spa University and University of Greenwich , I bring a wealth of practical and academic knowledge into the classroom. Having completed a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), I am able to integrate complex theoretical concepts with practical, industry-relevant examples. My students benefit from this blend of real-world applications and academic rigor, which helps them to better understand and tackle business challenges.

Tell us about your career

My career spans both academia and industry, providing a balanced perspective on business education. I have completed a DBA, MSc, and BA, and I’ve taught business-related subjects at various educational institutions, such as Canterbury Christ Church University, Bath Spa University, and the University of Greenwich. In addition to my academic roles, I have been involved in business consultancy, particularly focusing on operations management and entrepreneurial ventures, which gives me insight into the practicalities of the business world that I share with my students.

What industry links do you have?

I maintain strong ties with business sectors both in the UK and internationally. My professional connections span industries like operations management, entrepreneurship, and UK higher education. Through my role at Ed Success and Eastern Diamond Operation & Maintenance Co. in Saudi Arabia, I have established networks in the Middle East, which allows me to keep up with emerging business trends and integrate these into my teaching.

How has your industry experience enhanced your teaching?

My industry experience significantly enhances my teaching by enabling me to deliver content that is both practical and current. For example, my work in operations management has provided me with insight into how businesses streamline processes and improve efficiencies, which I integrate into case studies and class discussions. This real-world knowledge allows students to bridge the gap between theory and practice, making the lessons more engaging and relevant to their future careers.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

One of the highlights of my career has been the opportunity to help shape future business leaders through education. Watching my students apply the skills and knowledge they've gained in real-world settings and seeing them succeed in their entrepreneurial or leadership roles, has been immensely rewarding. Additionally, my involvement in launching and managing significant operational projects in the UK and Saudi Arabia has been a key professional milestone that reflects my expertise in both academia and industry.

Why should students consider studying this course?

Students should consider studying this course because it equips them with essential leadership and entrepreneurial skills that are highly valued in today’s competitive business landscape. The course combines academic knowledge with practical applications, offering students opportunities to engage in real-world business challenges, develop critical thinking and foster innovation. This course is designed to prepare students to become adaptive, forward-thinking professionals ready to lead in any business environment.

What is the best piece of advice you have for your students?

The best advice I can give to my students is to stay curious and embrace lifelong learning. In the rapidly evolving business world, adaptability and a commitment to personal growth are crucial. Don't be afraid to take risks and learn from your failures — they are often the best teachers. Always seek opportunities to apply what you've learned and be open to new experiences that challenge you to think differently.
