Assessment Regulations

The University Academic Board approves the Assessment Regulations for Taught and Research awards. The Assessment Regulations undergo a regular editorial process to ensure they are consistent and accurate.

In addition, during 2021/22, the University undertook an extensive review of the regulations for Foundation Degrees, Undergraduate Degrees, Integrated Masters Degrees and Taught Postgraduate (Masters) Regulations in order to reflect changing institutional and national agendas. This has led to a small number of changes to the Assessment Regulations from 2022/23.

The revised Assessment Regulations will be introduced from 2022/23 on an incremental basis to new students joining the University. There will be no impact on existing students, with the following exceptions:

  • Current Level 3 Foundation Year Student (pre-Higher Education level studies) progressing onto Level 4 of a Foundation Degree/Undergraduate Degree/Integrated Masters degree in 2022/23. In this case, they will be transitioned onto the revised assessment regulations for their Higher Education level studies.
  • Students who have interrupted their course. In this case, as currently, they will re-join their course on the Assessment Regulations in place at that time for that cohort.
  • Existing part-time Level 3 or Level 4 students, who have not yet completed their studies at that level. In these cases, they will be transitioned onto the revised Assessment Regulations from the 2022/23 academic year.
